ADC – To Cloud or Not To Cloud???

Last night we had a conversation with some colleagues about Application Delivery Controllers and their deployment – on-prem or in the cloud.  We are curious what other ADC masters think.

While most of my clients have cloud aspirations, most have not yet started moving a lot of “intelligence” services out to the cloud yet.  In fact, most of our client partners have preference toward the hardware appliances (as do I) because of their purpose-built hardware and acceleration capabilities.  We all know that server virtualization went through the same type of acceptance phase – and look at it now.  If you don’t have hypervisors in your environment, your name might be Barney Rubble.

At LKMethod™, we believe that virtual ADC technologies are starting to make more sense because of the ability to port them to the cloud in the future when necessary.  What do you think?
